A group of Ethiopian runners have made history by completing a double victory at the Berlin Marathon. In the men’s race, Kenenisa Bekele crossed the finish line first with a time of 2 hours, 1 minute and 41 seconds, just two seconds off the world record.
Following closely behind him was fellow Ethiopian runner Birhanu Legese, who finished in second place. The women’s race saw another Ethiopian runner, Ashete Bekere, take the top spot with a time of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 14 seconds.
